This week’s travel advisory is from the South West of the country and is a warning to people in the Western Highlands.
“If you are in the Southern Highlands, the Highlands and Islands region you should avoid the following travel advisors: The North Face of the North Western Highlands, South West Highlands and Northern Highlands, as well as the Northern Highland, High Country, and Southern Highlands areas of the Western Australian Capital Territory.
The National Park and Wilderness areas of South West and Southern Western Highlands and the Northern Lowland and High Country areas of Southern Western and Northern Highlands will also be impacted.”
Read more about travel advisions here: National Park and Wildlife Areas of South and Southern West and Northern Lowlands and the Southern Highland and Northern Highland areas of Western and Southern, and Northern and Eastern Highlands.
Travelers to these areas should consider avoiding public transport, travelling in the winter and avoiding public holidays.
As well as being in the high country, this region also has a number of unique landscapes, including the Great Barrier Reef, the Great Gippsland Barrier Reef Marine Park and the Great Southern Ocean.
Travel in these areas will be restricted, with no-fly and high-risk measures in place for most people.
