Dubai is under a travel advisory for flooding as the Gulf states of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have announced a ban on the travel of residents, workers and tourists from the country.
The Dubai Municipality says the ban is needed to protect the lives of its residents, employees and visitors and to ensure the safety of residents and visitors in and around the city.
Residents of the UAE can travel to the capital and other parts of the country but are advised to refrain from travel to Dubai, according to the travel advisory.
This includes the capital, the Royal United Mandate, and other areas of the Gulf region.
Travel restrictions in the United States and Canada are also in effect, according a news release from the US Federal Emergency Management Agency.
In addition to the restrictions on the use of the internet, there are restrictions on all other forms of transportation including taxis, buses, ferries and other forms that can carry passengers.
Dubai is currently experiencing heavy rains that have brought flash floods, mudslides, mud and debris, and power outages and other problems.
